Café Outdoor Structure Installation in Emsworth

The Brief

The Driftwood Café is a quaint establishment based in the pretty town of Emsworth. The owners of the café have meticulous attention to detail, from the overall design to the wonderfully fresh food they serve.

The courtyard garden was an area that the owner of the café felt could be improved with a new shading structure, to accommodate an increasing number of customers. Without the space to accommodate them, The Driftwood Café was having to turn people away, losing potential repeat customers and money in the process.

The client wanted a product that was unique, aesthetically pleasing, and of course practical, that would enhance the garden and seat extra customers every day of the year. Realising that they could potentially maximise the courtyard and increase cover, they contacted Dorset-based Broadview to offer their expert advice.

The Broadview Solution

Broadview immediately suggested the B200 louvred roof outdoor structure to the client during a consultation. The size was perfect for a single standalone structure and the louvres offer a unique yet rustic element, creating stripes of light onto the area sheltered below on sunny days.

With only one side facing into the garden, seamless sliding glass was the obvious choice here. To enclose the other three sides, Broadview suggested rustic wood panels inside and out with insulation in-between, which went down a treat with our excited clients and gave the outdoor structure a more integrated appearance.

Integrated LED lighting in the louvres and halogen patio heaters finished off the overall design perfectly. To complete this project, a 6 metre x 4.5 metre concrete base was first constructed by our experts to ensure smooth installation of the outdoor structure.

There is no limit to the design options available with our outdoor structures. If you have an idea for an outdoor structure for your café, or need some inspiration, don't hesitate to contact our experts at Broadview, on 01202 679 012.

The Result:

Tucked in the far end of the stunning courtyard garden now sits an extremely extravagant structure that can seat up to twenty-four guests comfortably, enabling the café to maximise their available space 365 days a year.

The glass front and wooden sides create a seamless transition from the café's main seating area to the outside, whilst offering a different garden room atmosphere. The area is used not only for extra cover during peak times, but for private functions and parties. Driftwood co-owner Clare Wright is delighted with the result and how it is already transforming their business:

“The Garden Pod as it’s known adds a real wow factor to Driftwood. It frames the courtyard beautifully with its sleek lines and is proving a real success.”

Harriet Sheppard, Commercial & Project Manager at Broadview, explains how the new structure has given the Driftwood Café a real talking point:

“They now have a really unique space to offer their customers, so much so that we’ve heard that customers phone ahead and specifically request to reserve a table in the new ‘garden pod’.  Being able to offer twenty-four extra covered seats every day of the year, if they so wish, has made a big difference to Driftwood and I’m delighted Broadview has been able to help them with that.”
