The Broadview Solution
The project brought together both the Broadview awnings and signage businesses to offer the client a complete ‘onestop- shop’ service, which included the installation of a bespoke canopy, two large-span umbrellas with heaters and lights, three electric sun screens, illuminated signage, menu cases and window graphics.
A four metre by one metre wedge-style canopy was manufactured using an aluminium frame and digitally printed with Banana Wharf graphics and installed over the entrance doors. To assist with extra sun screening to reduce any internal glare within the restaurant, Broadview developed and positioned a series of B1100 electric sunscreens with special zip channels over three large windows. These have been manufactured using Soltis® 86 fabric which is designed to ensure greater protection from internal heat build up and sunlight. The transparency of this fabric ensures that when the screens are down the views across Poole harbour from the restaurant are uninterrupted. These screens are operated by remote control at any time. The screens also have been printed with the Banana Wharf livery to create a high impact impression from the south elevation.
As well as protecting diners eating inside the restaurant, customers choosing to dine and enjoy a drink outside can be protected from the sun and other weather conditions under one of the two four metre by four metre umbrellas which each incorporate four 1.5kw heaters and Osram fluorescent lighting. Due to the restaurant’s waterfront location the strong wind versions were selected and the umbrella masts have been installed into the upstairs terrace. These are made of corrosion-resistant, powder-coated aluminium. The umbrella fabrics are hard wearing Dolan acrylic canvas.
To complete the project, Broadview supplied and installed three sets of ‘Banana Wharf’ lettering for the principal signage logos and two of the sets illuminate using LEDs. Frosted graphics, using the Banana Wharf logo, have also been applied to the windows and two aluminium 800 x 800 lockable menu cases have been manufactured and installed to the exterior of the building.
