Bespoke Garden Awning Installation at a Care Home in Broadstone, Dorset

Project Overview

Broadview was proud to collaborate with James Dean Landscape Design to enhance the outdoor space at Bupa Links Care Home in Broadstone. This project was designed to provide essential shade for the residents, reducing heat build-up and glare inside the building while creating a comfortable, shaded outdoor area during the warmer months.

 

The Challenge

The unique, radiused shape of the care home building meant that a traditional wall-mounted awning installation was not possible. To overcome this challenge, our team designed and constructed a bespoke steel “Goal Post” style frame, securely set into concrete, to safely support the awning. This innovative approach ensured both stability and optimal shade coverage.

The Solution

Our expert team installed a Brustor B25 Elite awning, measuring over 6m in width with a 3m projection, providing more than 18sqm of shaded space. This high-performance awning features:

  • A Somfy Motor and remote control for effortless operation.
  • A fully enclosed cassette that protects the Dickson awning fabric from the elements when retracted.
  • A special coated textile ideal for the UK climate, offering durability and superior UV protection.
