Pub Shading Solutions for Hall & Woodhouse

The Brief

Hall & Woodhouse are an independent brewer and pub operator with a Tenanted Estate of more than 200 pubs across Dorset, Somerset and Devon, and through to South West London and East Sussex. In anticipation of the introduction of the smoking ban on 1st July 2007, Hall & Woodhouse recognised the need to introduce comfortable external facilities for its smoking and non-smoking customers.

The Broadview Solution

After completing a competitive four-way pitch, Broadview was chosen as a principle supplier based on its diverse product range, knowledge and ability to tackle the whole job. Following an individual assessment of each site to ascertain specific requirements, Broadview worked closely with Hall & Woodhouse to recommend, design, manufacture and install the appropriate smoking ban solution. The diverse portfolio of Hall & Woodhouse pubs, which include town centres, local community outlets and rural pubs meant that each installation was different.

Products from the Broadview ‘Alfresco’ range which include large-span umbrellas, awnings and canopies were tailor-made and branded using the Hall & Woodhouse corporate colours and corporate identity. Broadview also supplied and installed suitable accessories such as heating and lighting to ensure customer satisfaction.

The Result

The forward looking brewer and its’ Tenants made an investment of more than £1.2 million to prepare for the smoking ban and central to this investment was the introduction of external facilities to accommodate smoking and non-smoking customers alike. Every establishment now has a comfortable external facility in accordance to each pub’s individual requirements and its surrounding.
