Online to Outdoor: How a Broadview Awning Facilitates Outdoor Learning

Cherry Lane School Outdoor Awning For Outside Learning

According to the Institute of Outdoor Learning, teaching outdoors can ‘improve attainment, increase engagement, and develop a wide range of skills’. In fact, a 2016 report by Plymouth University revealed 92% of children enjoyed their outside lessons more, while 90% expressed that they felt happier and healthier.

But it’s not just its educational benefits that make outdoor learning more attractive. The Covid-19 pandemic, particularly, has brought to light how much better the outdoors is for our physical health and mental well-being. Does that mean that more schools will want to make more use of their outside facilities?

If you’re looking for a solution that’ll help to facilitate outside learning, Broadview Outdoor Shading Solutions has the answer. Whether it’s throwing it down with rain or scorching sunshine, our outdoor shading solutions provide a protected outdoor learning space that can be used whatever the weather.

Providing a protective cover for outside lessons

Broadview Outdoor Shading Solutions offers several cover options that help to facilitate online learning. The most popular solution – and one that we installed for Cherry Lane School in West Drayton – is the Broadview Sunrain System.

The bespoke, fitted retractable system is controlled with the touch of a button – meaning instant cover in the event of rain! The system is also a permanent structure, so you can be sure it meets the strict health and safety regulations necessary for school environments.

We also provided a similar solution for Dulwich Prep in London. Due to the scale of the solution, we even installed a bespoke gutter system to ensure the Sunrain System withstands the heaviest of rain deluges. The school also benefits from a sophisticated control system that includes internal wall-mounted switches, and a master controller for convenience when teaching.

More about our Sunrain System

Our Sunrain Systems are made bespoke to individual needs. They combine a galvanised steel structure with an aluminium awning frame, and PVC awning material. We can even use our in-house digital printing facility to customise the awning material to include your school’s colours and logo.
